The private details of David Sharaz’s failed marriage have been laid bare for the first time in a series of texts published by the Federal Court.

Text messages between Sharaz and his new fiancée Brittany Higgins were sent on February 8, 2021, and appear in a document called a “master chronology”, provided to the court by former Channel Seven employee Taylor Auerbach.

In a lengthy affidavit, Auerbach claimed Lehrmann sent him the file containing several messages between Higgins and other people, including Sharaz and her ex-boyfriend Ben Dillaway.

They can now be revealed because Network Ten submitted them as evidence to the Federal Court.

According to Auerbach, in the texts, Sharaz says, “Alex is fucking smart.”

‘She’s doing all this just to screw me over and make my life difficult.

“The cop basically hinted to me that this is false. I asked him a bunch of hypotheticals. He says, ‘Put it this way, David… you don’t seem threatening to me.’

Mrs Higgins replied: “That’s so random.” Jesus. She is a psychopath.

Mr Sharaz said: “I am angry.” I’m not even afraid of the possible AVO etc. Now I’m just angry.’

Mrs Higgins said: “That’s fair.” It’s good that the police etc. realize this! Even they can recognize that it is false.’

—Is this literally about the meeting with Elizabeth Lee?

Is it not clear from the texts that Elizabeth Lee Ms Higgins referred to, but there is a Liberal politician with the same name who is a member for Kurrajong in the ACT?

Mr Sharaz continued: ‘And I emailed his lawyer to try to sort out the… I emailed him once if we can sort this out, I don’t want anything etc.’ and I CCed Alex.

In the texts, Brittany Higgins called Ms. Craig “terrible” (a mockup of the text is shown)

‘Good news, this will probably be resolved within a month, so I don’t have to worry about it.

“I’ll just work out my side of the story.”

Mrs Higgins replied: “She is so terrible.” I’m sorry you have to go through this. You deserve much more than that x.’

Auerbach accused Lehrmann of leaking personal messages from Higgins to Channel Seven before filming their two exclusive Spotlight interviews last year.

Lehrmann denies being the source of the leak.

The texts were originally obtained by the Australian Federal Police during an investigation into Ms Higgins’ rape allegations and were protected under the Harmon pledge, meaning the material could not be used outside the courtroom.

Network Ten’s lawyer Matthew Collins KC raised concerns in the Federal Court on Tuesday that the leak had breached Ms Higgins’ privacy.

“No doubt hoping that they would be broadcast and disseminated to their shame,” Dr. Collins said.

However, when the network presented Auerbach’s evidence in court on Tuesday, lawyers would have known that Higgins’ texts would become part of the public record for the world to see.
