A horrific accident on a major highway left two passengers in life-threatening conditions.
Two trucks and a car collided on the Bruce Highway near Bloomsbury, between Mackay and Proserpine in Queensland, at about 3pm on Thursday.
Queensland Police confirmed the road has been closed in both directions as emergency services attend the scene of the crash.
Two rescue helicopters have been sent to help paramedics treat four people injured in the crash.
Queensland Ambulance confirmed a man in his 20s was trapped in the rubble for “some time” and suffered life-threatening injuries to his head and arm.
Another man in his 70s received life-threatening head injuries, while two other passengers are in stable condition.
Traffic has been diverted along Kinnears Road for light vehicles only and long delays are expected and travellers are urged to take alternative routes.
