A seven-month pregnant woman was allegedly murdered by her boyfriend in an alleged honor killing in Sweden.
Saga Forsgren Elneborg, 20, was strangled to death with a lamp cord in her apartment in the Swedish city of Örebro, according to local media.
Prosecutors allege that her boyfriend, Mohamedamin Abdirisek Ibrahim, a refugee from Somalia who now has Swedish citizenship, killed his girlfriend in a “context of honor.”
Police have released images of the suspected murder weapon and the crime scene in his bedroom, where Saga’s body was found next to his bed, allegedly buried under a marble table.
The 22-year-old father of Saga’s unborn son reportedly hid their two-year relationship from his family because his mother would not accept him “meeting white girls,” according to an indictment filed last week.
The prosecutor said he was raised with the belief that dating a “white” woman is “not okay” and that he “should date a woman of the same culture” otherwise he would be rejected, but his family reportedly He never knew about Saga.

He expressed that he felt nervous about telling them, writing, “I feel like I can almost feel my heartbeat all the way down to my stomach.”
Saga tried to reassure him and promised him that “everything will be okay.” In his last text message to his girlfriend, Ibrahim claimed that he told someone. Follow-up messages from Saga, asking how he was doing and to “talk to me,” went unanswered.
State prosecutor Elisabeth Anderson alleges that Ibrahim went to Saga’s apartment, where he “violently” strangled her with the cord of her bedside lamp, according to local media. Aftonbladet.
Her baby, who weighed 1.7kg at the time and measured just 1.5 feet from head to toe, also died inside Saga’s womb.
There is no evidence to suggest that Ibrahim’s family was involved in Saga’s murder or that they asked for her to be killed, according to local media.

He said it has been a “long and painful wait” for the family until charges were filed for Saga’s murder.

Ibrahim will be tried for the murder on April 10, almost a year after his girlfriend Saga was murdered.
He denies any wrongdoing and told police in an interrogation that he loved Saga and still couldn’t believe her death: “I’ve been in denial for nine months.”
