The Cleveland Browns appear to have communication problems on their hands.
It all started when left tackle Jedrick Wills made a strange revelation on Monday. The former first-round pick has been plagued by knee injuries the past two seasons, missing the second half of last year with a torn MCL, but was reportedly healthy when he was benched before the U.S. game. Browns vs. Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday. November 3rd.
However, Wills apparently revealed to reporters this week that this benching was preceded by a conscious decision not to play against the Baltimore Ravens on Nov. 27, calling it a “business decision.” Of Cleveland.com:
“I mean, I decided it myself, I made the business decision to not play after the Bengals game before the Ravens game because I was injured. And then the next week is when I got the news.”
Wills is a pending free agent and has plenty of incentive to stay healthy for the rest of the season. However, that comment sparked a lot of negative reactions, to the point that head coach Kevin Stafanski He addressed the matter with reporters on Wednesday..
Apparently, Will doesn’t know what the words “business decision” mean in the modern sports dictionary:
“I talked to Jed and it was a bad choice of words. I know the connotation of ‘business decision’. That’s not what he meant. He didn’t feel close to 100% helping us, but he chose the wrong words and he understands.”
Stefanski also rejected the idea that Wills had suffered a knee setback. Wills reportedly hyperextended that left knee, the same one where he tore his MCL, on Oct. 20 against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Stefanski said Wills was simply going through a long rehabilitation process:
“I wouldn’t classify it as a ‘setback’. He hasn’t recovered as quickly as he would like and obviously there are times when you maybe get an injury or feel it again, that kind of thing, but yeah, it’s been a difficult rehab for he”.
However Wills recovers, Stefanski has indicated The team will start 2023 fourth-round pick Dawand Jones down the road.
