Authorities in Florida say the brother of legendary Los Angeles Dodgers manager Tommy Lasorda was killed in a car accident involving a police officer.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said in an e-mail that Joseph Lasorda, 83, made a left turn in front of a Boca Raton police SUV without identification driven by the 30-year-old sergeant. Doug Immler on Thursday night.
The accident report says that Immler had a green light.
According to police, Joseph Lasorda, 83, collided with a police vehicle after taking a wrong turn at a crossroads.
Lasorda was taken to the Delray Medical Center, where he died.
While the accident occurred in Boca Raton, police officers asked the sheriff's office to investigate because it involved a police officer.
Authorities say Immler was taken to a hospital for the treatment of minor injuries.
Lasorda's wife, Gaetana Lasorda, told Palm Beach Post that her husband "was personality-plus" and a "friend of all."
