Actress Brooke Shields responded to a critic who attacked her for her age, and she doesn’t stop.
During an appearance on Monday Good morning AmericaThe former child model, now 59, recalled a recent comment she received during an Instagram Live, revealing how it made her feel.
“The other day I was doing an Instagram Live and one of the comments was, ‘I really wish you looked the same as before,'” Shields said, laughing. “And I was like, ‘Really?’
“I thought, ‘Wow, we’re all so disconnected,'” she continued. “We need to find joy in this.”
This month, Shields revealed a new memoir titled Brooke Shields Is Not Allowed to Get Old: Thoughts on Aging as a Woman, explaining that the idea came about after she founded her own hair care company, Commence.
“I think it’s important to do this at this time in a woman’s life,” she explained during the appearance.
“The beauty industry wants us to chase youth, look at regrets: what if, what if?” she said.
“And I think it’s important to understand where you’ve been, but I think it’s very joyful to say, ‘I may not know where I’m going, but I’m here…”‘

The Pretty Baby star also added that it’s important for women to stand up for themselves and be able to share their experiences together.
As an example, Shields explained that after recently suffering a grand mal attack, two doctors asked him if he had been restricting his diet.
“You wouldn’t say that to a man,” he said.
“It’s time to explore this without shouting, without getting angry.”
The Mother of the Bride actress’ response comes just days after she made headlines for a shocking story she told in her new book.
The star revealed that a doctor had performed a procedure without her consent while she was undergoing lip surgery.
The mother of two recalled having major discomfort due to the length of her lips, such as chafing and bleeding, which led her to undergo a lip reduction.
“Of course, insurance doesn’t cover it because it’s considered cosmetic, which is very interesting,” she wrote.

Unfortunately, when she visited her Beverly Hills surgeon for a post-surgery checkup, he “proudly” told the model that he had given her “a little double”: vaginal rejuvenation.
However, she had neither requested nor given consent for the procedure.
The Endless Love actress was worried the story was “too graphic or just TMI,” but wanted to spread the word about her experience to potentially help other women.
“If we want to change the way we approach and talk about women’s health, then we need to ask uncomfortable but very real questions,” she explained.
“Shame is no longer an option,” he said.
