“Having someone to go through life with is very important and I’d be happy to give that to Elsie. There is plenty of room in our house for another little one.

The actress – who founded the Ben Kinsella Trust in his memory and has been awarded an MBE for her charitable work – previously admitted that it was “heartbreaking” for her that her daughter Elsie would never meet her uncle.

She said, ‘It’s a double-edged sword. Being Elsie’s mom is all I’ve ever wanted, but then again, I’m thinking about everyone who isn’t there to meet her. For me, Ben is the most important person missing.

“Obviously I love Elsie more than anything and because I’ve loved Ben so much too, it’s heartbreaking to know they’ll never meet.”

In 2018, Brooke assisted the team on EastEnders as they investigate a knife crime storyline in which the character Shakil Kazemi (Shaheen Jafargholi) was stabbed to death by a mobster.
