“I offered to buy him lunch because I didn’t have any cash and the situation escalated very quickly,” the post said.
While Cardoza claimed the suspect had “pulled a gun on him,” police told DailyMail.com that the suspect did not have a gun. Instead, police confirmed that the suspect used his hand to “pretend” that he had a gun inside his pocket.
The suspect, who has not yet been identified, fled the scene. No arrests have been made.
“I’m fine, in the end he didn’t take anything irreplaceable,” Cardoza said in the post.
Cardoza lost his identification, two visas, an insurance card and $9, according to police.
The actor performed in the Easter morning show of ‘El Cuaderno’ after the meeting.
‘I felt grateful to have a place to go immediately after (the robbery) full of people I love, to do the work I love. “So I’ve been in good hands,” his post read.
‘It saddens me to think that people are so desperate, and it saddens me to feel the need to alert anyone about this type of activity.
“But it’s the world we live in, and if you’re like me, you’re already careful and you don’t think it’s going to happen to you until it’s in front of you.”
The Broadway star later confirmed in a second Instagram story that the suspect had attempted to use her credit card at several stores in the area.
“I wouldn’t want anyone to be caught off guard in these places that we all frequent,” he said.
In a third post, Cardoza thanked his followers for their great support and concern.
“I live in New York and unfortunately these things happen more often than we think and I didn’t anticipate this going much further than my personal history here,” he said.
The suspect, who has not yet been identified, fled.
No arrests have been made
‘I wanted to draw the attention of some friends, and anyone who lives in the area to be careful because he really stalks you and I don’t know where that guy is now. “I want people to be well and alert.”
