Brittney Griner and A'ja Wilson react to a fan holding a sign in support of Caitlin Clark at the Olympics

A funny troll by a Japanese fan appeared to catch the attention of some US women’s basketball stars ahead of their opening Olympic Games in Paris.

The fan, wearing a half Brooklyn Nets, half Los Angeles Lakers jersey, held up a sign that read: “You need Caitlin Clark to beat us.”

That sign caught the attention of several players on the court, including A’ja Wilson.

Wilson caught the attention of teammate Brittany Griner, who saw the sign and responded with a resounding, “Oh, wow.”

Clark’s omission from the Olympic team still sparks controversy to this day, even though Team USA didn’t exactly need her.

Sabrina Ionescu and Kelsey Plum also scored eleven points, doing so in 20 and 14 minutes of play respectively.

Team USA will next play Thursday when it faces Belgium, which lost 83-69 to Germany.
