David Sharaz has broken his silence about his wedding to Brittany Higgins, revealing their first text messages together and comparing their love story to a romantic comedy.
The couple will tie the knot at luxury Gold Coast venue The Valley Estate on Saturday afternoon, around 18 months after their proposal and four years after they first met in Canberra.
On the morning of the big day, Sharaz, unfazed by the gray skies and impending rain surrounding the Currumbin Valley, excitedly took to Instagram to post his first text interaction with his future wife.
Commenting on a photo of Ms Higgins next to the famous ‘budget tree’ in the Parliament Yard in Canberra, where she worked as a Liberal staffer, she wrote: ‘Love this photo. But especially the tree.

Ms Higgins responded with a facepalm emoji: “Rude but completely justified haha.”
He wrote: ‘To be honest. I went to show a friend what you looked like and accidentally sent it to you. Have a good night.’
She said, ‘Hahaha, that’s amazing.’
In the caption of the post, Sharaz wrote: “I accidentally sent a girl I had a crush on… a picture of herself.”
‘A few years later and we’re getting married! Romantic comedies exist.’

The venue is set in nine acres of gardens and, according to The Valley Estate website, is the “epitome of luxury”.
“A unique, personalized space designed to inspire celebration and reflection with loved ones,” the site said.
