Brittany Higgins, former Liberal Party staffer and Australian of the Year Grace Tame, have teamed up to pose for a glamorous cover shoot while being named ‘Women of the Year’.
The couple stars on the cover of the December issue of Marie Claire magazine, which was released Monday.
The magazine declares the alleged rape victim of Parliament, Ms Higgins and child sexual assault survivor Grace Tame, as forces of change in an issue devoted to the “game-changers, pioneers and joy-makers” of 2021 in a year that was marred by Covid-19 lockdowns.
The pair have become close friends since Ms Higgins sensationally went public with allegations that she had been raped by a colleague in a minister’s office in Parliament House in 2019.

Their friendship was further cemented during the recent photo shoot for Marie Claire in Brisbane.
Ms Higgins’ partner, journalist David Sharaz, was one of the first to express his pride with the magazine’s cover.
“Two incredible people,” he tweeted.
He later captioned a screenshot of the magazine’s cover: “Hey Siri, show me I’m out of class…”
Mr. Sharaz also responded to Marie Claire’s tweet promoting the latest edition.
“Order for 75 copies,” he noted before uploading a framed photo of the cover.

Ms. Tame also paid tribute to her fellow cover girl, describing her as a trooper.
“Brittany is extremely intelligent and her ability to articulate the situation and maintain diplomacy despite utter ugliness and abhorrent behavior is incredible,” she said.
“Doing the Marie Claire shoot together in Brisbane was so much fun and strengthened our friendship.”
Mrs. Higgins had similar glowing words about Mrs. Tame.
“There is no one I trust more to celebrate my victories or just cry ugly to.
Not only does she speak with such in-depth knowledge about child sexual abuse and gender-based violence, but she does it in a way that is incredibly accessible to a wide range of people.
Ms. Higgins, 26, made national headlines in February when she broke her silence about allegedly being raped by a male colleague in the parliament building of Federal Defense Secretary Linda Reynolds in 2019.
Ms Higgins’ claims shocked Canberra.

Ms Higgins returned to the Houses of Parliament weeks later to address thousands attending the Women’s March4Justice rally with a powerful speech.
“This is not a political problem. This is a human problem,” she told the crowd.
“We have all learned in recent weeks how common gender-based violence is in this country.
It is time our leaders on both sides of politics stopped shying away from the subject and set aside accountability. It’s time we really tackled the problem.’
