She surprised her American husband by making a bacon sandwich the traditional “English” way – before revealing he loved it.

In the clip, which has so far been viewed more than 2.1 million times, Caroline can be seen standing in her kitchen as she speaks directly to the camera.

Holding a frozen loaf of bread and a package of bacon, she begins: “I’m going to make my American husband an English bacon sandwich because I went to the Irish store… don’t ask me how much I spent.”

She defrosts the bread, explaining: “There’s a big difference between American bread and English bread – if you know, you know.”

Caroline continues: “Compared to American bacon, you have to put a little oil in the pan because it just contains less fat.

“Obviously, with interlaced bacon, you don’t need oil. I made this mistake when I moved here.

“I prefer my bacon like this, but that’s definitely because I’m used to it. This is what we eat at home. I don’t know if my husband likes it like that, but he’ll have it.

She lets the bacon cook in a pan before focusing on making the perfect bread base.

Caroline explains: “While it’s bubbling, let’s build this. It’s totally a preference. For me, I like lots of butter and just a little bit of ketchup.

The content creator says the trick isn't toasting the bread as she applies a thick layer of butter to a slice of bread before adding ketchup and bacon.

The content creator then states that the trick is not to toast the bread as she applies a thick layer of butter to a single slice of bread.

She says: “On the other hand, I also buy my ketchup from an Irish store, because American ketchup has a lot of chemicals and I just try to keep them as low as possible for the kids.”

Caroline then adds a drizzle of hot sauce to her husband’s sandwich before removing her bacon from the heat.

She says: “As you can see, there’s obviously some fat coming off, but if I had American bacon it would be a breeze if I added oil as well.

“And then you just prepare it. I like to make three pieces of bacon per sandwich. Actually it’s a matter of preference, some people add an egg.
