British woman Charleedownunder reveals biggest shocks after moving to Australia

Date:

A young British woman has revealed the three things every expat needs to know before moving to Australia, after having to learn the hard way.

Charlee, 25, is ‘living the dream Down Under’ but says a few things have left her in deep shock.

His first ‘shocking’ piece of advice is to get rid of any ideas of ‘fast deliveries’.

“If you’re going out at night three days from now and you think you’re just going to order one outfit, you’re sorely mistaken,” she said.

He went on to explain that in the UK they have Asos Premiere where you can order clothes and have it delivered the next day, or buy something on Amazon Prime at 6pm and have it delivered in less than 24 hours.

Charlee, from Great Britain, reveals her three complaints about Australia

“Deliveries here must be 50 years late and the only thing I can guess about what explains this is the fact that this country is so big,” he said.

“I pay for express shipping every time I get something delivered and it still takes a week or two,” he added, calling the situation a “fucking crisis.”

The second is a matter of parking.

He explained that in the UK he could park in a space ‘on the wrong side of the road’, but was surprised to find that this is not done here.

“It’s so illegal in this country,” he said.

“But in the UK I did it every day,” he said.

She adds that she considers herself a “real pro” at parking on the wrong side of the road because it’s so common at home.

The latter is also about how, or rather what people drive.

Charlee seemed stunned to learn that most people “don’t know how to drive a manual.”

She said that in the UK most people learn in a manual car, and it is considered the preferred and most available option.

The young woman cannot believe that it is illegal to parallel park on the opposite side of the road, going against traffic.

They (Australians) have an automatic car license, so they can’t drive a manual car,” she said, stunned.

‘Everyone said if you drive manual I only have a manual car. In the UK, honestly, we must be phenomenal drivers,” he said.

The video, which was posted on TikTok, quickly went viral with many people, including Australians, agreeing on all three points.

‘Aussie post uses a horse and cart,’ wrote one person.

A British man said he sometimes feels like he’s “living in the 90s” when it comes to postal delays and online product availability.

Another knows all about ‘very illegal’ parking: ‘I remember parking across the road once and getting BLOCKED! Who knows!’

“So nothing has changed in nine years,” laughed one ex-ex-pat.

Others dismissed most of his comments.

‘Iconic delivers same day. All my Amazon Prime arrives the same day or the next day. It is legal to make a U-turn unless it is over double lines,” wrote one woman.

You can park across the road as long as you are facing the direction of traffic. And the auto/male license only applies to your P’s, she added.

It’s crazy that you expect things to be delivered to you in the next few days. Think of our planet! Stop buying things! a man criticized.

And some complained that “Canada is no better.”

‘I moved to Canada years ago. The UK is lit by many things. deliveries, food costs, pranks. I miss him,’ said one woman.

Charlee lived in Sydney when she first moved to Australia, but is now spending time in the Northern Territory.
