A British tourist has been found dead on a beach in Lanzarote.
The alarm sounded this morning after the grim discovery in Playa Chica, a small sandy cove in the tourist town of Puerto del Carmen considered one of the best family beaches on the island.
Police say they are investigating, but there is nothing at this time to indicate the death is suspicious.
The dead tourist was described locally as a 34-year-old man.
Emergency services were alerted after 7.30am this morning.
The body of the 34-year-old man was found this morning in Playa Chica, a small sandy cove in the tourist town of Puerto del Carmen, Lanzarote.
It was not immediately clear who had found the body.
It is believed to have been removed before most of the early sun seekers arrived to take advantage of the island’s current blue skies and high temperatures in the mid-seventies.
The Lanzarote Civil Guard was not available for comment this afternoon.
This is breaking news. More to follow.
