A British man flew to the hospital after being knocked unconscious by a snowboarder with the help of a ski pole in Austria.
The British tourist, who is not mentioned, was seriously injured in the attack that began after he challenged the snowboarder after a near-collision with his ski group.
The snowboarder, wearing a gray or anthracite-colored jacket and helmet, launched the attack just before closing time in the Zillertal Arena in Rohrberg.
It is the largest ski area in the Zillertal, with 88.8 km of slopes that extend over two provinces and with 52 cable cars and lifts.
The man was attacked shortly before the slopes of the Zillertal closed (pictured above). He sustained serious injuries and was flown to a hospital in Schwaz, about 25 kilometers away
The victim was reportedly unhappy about the near-collision and challenged the snowboarder, breaking out a line that quickly became violent, according to local media.
It seems that the attacker has taken a ski pole from a member of the ski group before he has beaten the British man several times.
Because the British man was not wearing a helmet, he was seriously injured and had to be flown to the hospital in Schwaz, about 25 km away.
The snowboarder reportedly fled the group after the British man collapsed.
The police have now called on witnesses who could possibly help identify the snowboarder.
