British pop legend Engelbert Humperdinck aims to become the oldest performer in Glastonbury history, at 87 years old.
The Last Waltz singer, who will turn 88 in May, believes his next album will take him to the festival stage as he is determined to reinvent himself, according to Sun.
If the rocker’s plan is successful, he will become the oldest performer at Worthy Farm, surpassing the appearance of Burt Bacharach in 2015, aged 87.
Speaking exclusively to The Sun, Engelbert said: “I wouldn’t mind doing Glastonbury. I’d have to have the right songs for that show. But my new project may give me that opportunity.
“It’s out of my comfort zone and takes me to a different style, which may take me to Glastonbury.”

Engelbert just collaborated with singer Emin on his album Now Or Never, which was released on Thursday, February 8.
The music legend previously revealed that he also wanted to work with Gorillaz.
He missed the opportunity to collaborate with the virtual band on their 2010 album, Plastic Beach.
His then manager rejected an approach from Damon Albarn, 55 years old at the time.
The A Man Without Love singer said: “That was a terrible mistake.” I would have taken the opportunity if they had spoken to me.
‘Hopefully, with this new project I will be able to work with these types of people. I want to record with them.’
Azerbaijani singer Emin reimagines 12 Elvis Presley songs for his new album ‘Now or Never’, which includes a duet with veteran British performer Engelbert.
The two singers met in Baku in 2012, when Humperdinck, 87, represented the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest.

‘I have many followers… very good, very unconditional and I love them. And I’m going to keep going until God calls me.’
In 20222, Engelbert was awarded the MBE degree during an investiture service at Windsor Castle.
The iconic artist, who rose to fame in the late 1960s with chart-topping hits such as Release Me and The Last Waltz, was appointed MBE in the 2021 Queen’s Birthday Honors list.
