British police arrested a man suspected of being armed near Buckingham Palace
London police announced Tuesday the arrest of a “suspected armed” man who approached the Buckingham Palace fence and threw objects believed to be firearm cartridges into the palace’s garden.
A police statement said, “A security cordon was set up after a suspicious bag was found in the man’s possession,” noting that experts detonated it as a precaution.
The police indicated that the suspect was arrested at around 19:00 (18:00 GMT), noting that the arrest comes a few days before the coronation of Charles III as King of Britain in a ceremony that will be attended by kings and senior leaders from around the world.
