A mother-of-two was left ‘days away from death’ and permanently disfigured after a botched Brazilian butt lift (BBL).

Jodie Nicholson, 30, from Leeds, was given a false sense of security when the clinic she used told her the non-surgical procedure was completely safe.

But the caregiver’s experience took a terrifying turn when she developed a blood infection.

She told The Mirror: ‘It was sold to me as extremely safe, it was nothing like the surgical BBL, and I was told that if I didn’t like it it was just a filler and could be fixed, there was no downtime or aftercare required.’

However, after the procedure in July 2022, Ms Nicholson said she had ‘never felt so sick’, describing how she quickly became ‘sick and dizzy and my vision was blurry’.

She added that her thighs became “red hot and rock hard” and “purple rings” formed around the injection area.

“The next morning at 10am my bottom was oozing with pus,” Ms Nicholson said.

She was prescribed antibiotics by her GP but had difficulty keeping them down and was taken to A&E just 5 days after BBL.

Mrs Nicholson, who was increasingly conscious at the time, recalled doctors saying she was ‘days away’ from dying in her sleep.

Within hours she was in theater and surgeons removed the filler and infected tissue before draining 2.5 liters of pus.

Mrs Nicholson remained in hospital for a few more weeks as she recovered from the infection.

She also had to undergo a second operation because one side of her body was “burning and feeling like nettles on the inside.”

Three years later, she still has scars and deformities from where the tissue was cut.

Jodie – who has two sons, aged nine and three – said doctors warned her that BBL procedures like hers could go wrong even years later.

Her concern is that those responsible “will not be held liable unless you have actually died.”

It comes after a mother of five became the first person to die from a Brazilian Bum Lift procedure in Britain.

Alice Webb, 33, died in September just hours after the operation, which is believed to have been carried out in the West Country.

Police said at the time that Ms Webb had undergone a ‘suspected cosmetic procedure’.

Two people have now been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and released on bail.

An inquest held in October found that further investigation into Mrs Webb’s cause of death was necessary.
