A British mother who gave birth at just 26 weeks pregnant while on holiday in Türkiye now faces hospital bills of £1,000 a week.
Tesni Griffiths, 27, a mother of two, was visiting her partner Omar’s family in the Middle East when she suddenly went into labor 12 weeks early.
She had to undergo an emergency C-section while abroad and baby Aras was born on September 27, weighing just 2 pounds, 2 ounces.
Tesni was on holiday in Wrexham, north Wales, when she woke up with mild cramps and was then rushed to a hospital almost three hours away.
She said: “So I was rushed to Mugla hospital in an ambulance. When I arrived, I tried to give birth naturally, but my baby’s heart rate suddenly dropped, so they had to urgently have an emergency cesarean section.

“I woke up around 6 pm, Aras was born with a small hole in his heart and with breathing problems we can only see him on Mondays and Thursdays for 30 minutes.”
Tesni said Aras is “fine,” adding: “He is receiving oxygen but is not ventilated.”
‘It’s definitely been a really scary experience. Even now I’m still afraid.
“My last birth, Alfie, was eight years ago and 10 weeks early, but it wasn’t as difficult as this one.”
The charity Lia’s Wings, a children’s hospital airlift service, will bring Tesni and baby Aras home in six weeks, but their care in the Turkish hospital costs almost £1,000 a week.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help raise funds to try and help the couple return home early.
Tesni said: “We will struggle to pay for that as the caesarean section and ambulance cost just over £2000, so we are trying to raise funds for her hospital care and transport to hospital, a five hour journey each day.” .
“Any help is really appreciated and we are doing everything we can to get baby Aras back to the UK.”
The fundraiser hopes to raise £2,000, of which £740 has been donated so far.
