A British man has been accused of raping his son’s friend in a Magaluf hotel and faces up to nine years in prison if convicted.
Lawyers for the 43-year-old man failed to reach a plea deal with state prosecutors in a Mallorca court on Thursday.

The suspect, who has yet to be identified by police or judicial officials ahead of his trial, was detained at Palma airport after “packing his bags and attempting to return to the UK hours later”.
The British woman, believed to be in her 20s, told detectives she was forced to have sex after spending the last night of her holiday in the same room as her friend and his father because she was due to return to the UK hours later and he had already left his own room.
The older man, who has not yet been identified, allegedly tried to flee Magaluf but was detained by police at the airport.
