British super welterweight champion Scott Fitzgerald suspended his boxing license after allegedly attacking a woman.
Fitzgerald spent the night in jail after being arrested by police in Preston on Monday on suspicion of attacking his ex-girlfriend.
The British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) took action against Fitzgerald after the news and suspended its license pending further investigation of the incident.
Fitzgerald, who won a Commonwealth Games gold medal in 2014, ventured over the social media incident when he took to Instagram to call those who he says “ set him up ” after spending 24 hours in a cell.

He seemed worse for wear and tear in the video clips he posted on social media, and launched a dirty-mouthed rant after his release.
The 28-year-old described an incident as ‘a kick-off with my ex-partner and her family’.
An image of the alleged victim, seen with blood coming from her nose, circulated on Twitter.
“THE CRAZY MAN Scott Fitzgerald just did this to my granddaughter Rhiannon,” was the caption by Linda Hetherington Lamb.
A Lancashire police spokesman said, “A 28-year-old Preston man has been arrested on charges of assault following an incident at an address in Ryelands Crescent in the city.
“Investigations are underway.”
Fitzgerald, who remains unbeaten as a professional, shared his opinion of his public Instagram profile with 51,000 followers.

Fitzgerald then mentioned a series of people in his Instagram story.
British super welterweight defeated domestic rivals Anthony Fowler and Ted Cheeseman in two successful confrontations last year, but his burgeoning professional career could now be delayed by disciplinary action if found guilty.
