British Airways recently transformed into British Bearways when it reunited a nine-year-old boy with his beloved teddy bear, Postman Bear, after he was accidentally left behind in a BA airport lounge.
The precious teddy bear was discovered in the British Airlines‘Club Lounge at London’s Heathrow Airport Terminal 5 and was whisked away on a thrilling ‘adventure’ through the airport before an emotional reunion with nine-year-old Alex at his home in Dubai.
After securing a new flight and boarding pass for Postman Bear, BA team members gave the teddy bear the “VIP treatment” with a ride in an airport buggy to “catch up” with the Cabin Crew Operations team at the Crew Briefing Centre.
Postman Bear was then taken to meet the cabin crew on his new flight to Dubai and was photographed waiting “patiently” at the gate for his flight, drinking a cup of coffee and enjoying “great views of the plane” as he waited to board.
The adventurous bear’s journey to the airport was captured in travel diary form by British Airways customer manager Ed Tumath, who sent the holiday snaps to Postman Bear’s family to reassure owner Alex.

After landing in Dubai, the cabin crew brought Postman Bear to meet Alex and the rest of the family in the arrivals area for a “happy bear reunion.”
Stuart, Alex’s dad, said: ‘My son had left his teddy bear (which has great sentimental value as he has had it since he was born) in the British Airways lounge before the flight. We realised this as the plane doors were closing so there was nothing we could do at the time.
‘This was very distressing for my son, who uses the teddy bear as a calming object, especially when travelling on planes. It was incredibly stressful and we feared that his beloved teddy bear would be lost forever.
‘While on board the plane, I joined a number of Facebook groups to seek help in finding the teddy bear. A member of the group contacted Ed, who came to the rescue. I managed to communicate with Ed during the flight and received a photo showing that the teddy bear had been found, which reassured my son.

‘Ed not only went above and beyond to find the bear, but he communicated very well throughout. He really cared about the situation and worked very hard to get the bear back to us.
‘He arranged for the bear to board a flight to Dubai a couple of days later and a crew member returned him to us. Not only was Ed outstanding in his caring manner and communication, he even provided us with some photographs of the bear’s journey, which my son will cherish forever.
‘My son was so relieved. There are no words to express how grateful we are to Ed for his kind act and dedication in returning the teddy bear to us. I have flown with BA for many years. This is by far the best experience I have ever had and I am overwhelmed by Ed’s efforts.
“Sometimes amazing people do amazing things and show so much kindness along the way… these things matter. This meant so much to my family and I, and we will be forever grateful.”
