British Airways has canceled all flights between New York and a major UK airport until 2025 and warned travelers that it does not believe the issue will be resolved quickly.
The airline has canceled hundreds of long-haul flights from London Gatwick to New York over the coming months due to delays in deliveries of Rolls-Royce’s Trent 1000 engines.
The popular route from the UK capital and the Big Apple will be suspended from December 12 to March 25, 2025, with at least 103 flights expected to be affected.
A British Airways spokesperson said: “We are disappointed to have had to make further changes to our schedule as we continue to experience delays in the delivery of Rolls-Royce engines and parts, particularly in relation to the Rolls-Royce Trent.” 1,000 engines installed in our 787 aircraft.

A Rolls Royce spokesperson added: “We continue to work with British Airways and all our customers to minimize the impact of limited spare parts availability due to current supply chain constraints.
“Unfortunately, this is an issue that affects the entire aerospace industry.”
The Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engines were designed to power the Boeing 737 Dreamliner aircraft.
A Boeing 787 Dreamliner powered by a Trent 1000 engine is 20 percent more efficient than the previous Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
