An elderly pedestrian was hit and killed by a hit-and-run driver on Thursday morning, just hours after a motorcyclist was killed in one of several horror crashes that took place across Queensland overnight.
The man in his 60s was hit by a mystery car at Kittyhawk Drive and Murphy Road in Brisbane’s Chermside at around 5.15am.
Paramedics found him in critical condition, suffering from injuries to his head, pelvis and leg. He was rushed to the Royal Brisbane Hospital in a critical condition, but later died.
Police are continuing to search for the vehicle involved and investigations are continuing, a spokesperson said.
A man aged in his 70s has died after being hit by a mystery car at Kittyhawk Drive and Murphy Road in Chermside in Brisbane about 5.15am on Thursday.

Just two hours earlier, a motorcyclist was reported dead after a collision at 3.20am near Hendra in Brisbane, at the Southern Cross Way on-ramp.
Paramedics found the motorcyclist in critical condition, but he was later believed to have died.
The key city center route was closed following the crash, but has since reopened with reduced lanes.
The driver, 29, of a Toyota SUV was also flown to hospital in a serious condition after a head-on collision overnight with a Jeep SUV on the Bruce Highway near Curra, north of the Sunshine Coast.
A motorcyclist also died after a collision at 3.20am near Hendra in Brisbane. In two other accidents, three people were injured and a man and a woman were airlifted to hospital.
The driver of the Jeep, a 28-year-old Mulambin man, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Gympie Hospital.
And in a fourth crash, a woman was airlifted to hospital in a serious condition after a two-vehicle crash near Yarraman, northwest of Brisbane, overnight.
Initial investigations indicate that around 8 p.m., a 4×4 was heading west on the D’Anguilar highway when it collided with a truck heading in the opposite direction.
The driver of the SUV was airlifted to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a serious condition.
A female passenger was only slightly injured and the truck driver was not physically injured.
