Brisbane Grange fire: Three homes destroyed in blaze as three people rushed to hospital

Three houses were destroyed in a fire while a man was rushed to hospital with severe burns to his leg and face.

Three houses were completely engulfed in flames while a fourth house suffered significant damage.

Ten fire crews were called to the scene and Queensland Fire Services said the blaze was now under control after it spread to several homes.

“Heavy smoke is still affecting the area and will continue to do so throughout the night,” a QFES spokesman said, adding that crews would remain at the scene well into Friday night.

‘Nearby residents should close windows and doors and keep respiratory medications nearby.’

QFES Acting Chief Superintendent Douglas May said the fire was believed to have been started by a fuel spill. mail reported.

“A gentleman was reportedly refueling his car and some of the fuel spilled and an ignition source ignited the car,” he said.

“He suffered burns and was taken to hospital. He immediately called 900 and left his house to alert the neighbours.”

The man was taken to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a serious but stable condition, with burns to his leg and face.

Two firefighters were also taken to hospital, one with minor burns to the arm and the other with suspected heat stress.
