- Body washes on a southern Sydney beach
- New South Wales Police have launched an investigation.
A body has been found washed up on a popular Sydney beach, prompting a police investigation.
The unidentified body was discovered on Thursday on the shore of Lady Robinsons beach in Brighton-Le-Sands, in the south of the city.
NSW Police officers were seen covering the body with a red blanket before carrying it from the water’s edge to a waiting police van.
The body had previously been covered with a blue tarp with police tape preventing locals from accessing the beach, just 13 kilometers south of Sydney’s central business district.
It is understood that this is an incident of self-harm.
Officers were seen carrying a stretcher to the body on the shore.
Four officers then carried the body on a stretcher to a waiting police van.
