According to a new report, the main stories for the fourth Bridget Jones film, Mad About the Boy, have been revealed.
Movie fans were delighted this month when the next installment of the popular romantic comedy films was confirmed, with the return of Renée Zellweger, 55, and Hugh Grant.
But since at the end of author Helen Fielding’s second book, Bridget’s husband, Mark Darcy, dies, the fourth film will now focus on her move into online dating and her flirtation with a much younger suitor.
And that handsome man in question will be played by none other than Netflix’s One Day star Leo Woodall, 27, who will have a steamy new romance and plenty of kisses with Bridget as he works through his grief.
Despite the 28-year age difference, Bridget’s new love interest will be Leo, who also starred in The White Lotus, and whose character has yet to be named.

A source said Sun: ‘Bridget will be a real cougar in the new film and will be seen starting a relationship with a much younger character played by Leo.
“I was delighted to get the role and will have a major role as her love interest in Mad About The Boy.

It comes after Huge confirmed some disturbing news for Bridget Jones fans when speaking about the upcoming fourth film.
The actor, 63, played handsome lothario Daniel in the first two hit films, 2001’s Bridget Jones’s Diary and 2004’s Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, alongside co-star Renee.
Hugh decided not to return for 2016’s Bridget Jones’s Baby, resulting in his character being written out when he died in a plane crash, however a newspaper headline joked at the end that he was actually found alive.

The Notting Hill star has now revealed the new film, coming to Peacock for Valentine’s Day 2025, will be his “best” yet and it’s already brought him to tears.
He said Eastern Time: ‘I’ll tell you what, I think this script for the fourth Bridget is the best of the four. And, in fact, one of the best scripts I’ve read in a long time.”
Hugh confirmed that Colin’s character Mark, who was the father of Bridget Jones’ baby, will not appear as his character has been killed off.
He continued: “It’s based on trying to raise two kids alone, and then [it’s] all mixed up in the Bridget Jones [style] comedy, so it is very sad, as well as very funny. She has me crying.’
The fourth film, Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, is based on Helen’s book of the same name and keen readers will suspect that Mark dies at the beginning of the book.
Comments from Wonka stars seem to confirm that Colin will not appear in any major capacity as Mark and was also not included in the cast list press release.
Hugh added: “It suddenly came up, you know, for Helen to write another book. Hopefully, we’re not too old. I don’t do much now, I just have some scenes.’
The Mail On Sunday confirmed that the film will begin filming in May.
Emma Thompson, who played Doctor Rawlings in 2016’s Bridget Jones’s Baby, is also back, with Chiwetel Ejiofor also starring, according to THR.
To Leslie director Michael Morris will direct the film, based on the 2013 novel of the same name, with the script written by author Fielding and Miramax co-financing the film.
Universal will release the film on Peacock on Valentine’s Day 2025, while internationally it will be released in theaters.
The most recent film, released in 2016, saw Bridget shocked when she discovered she was pregnant. She ended up marrying Mark. It was also revealed that he was the father of her baby.
The first film, Bridget Jones’s Diary, was released in 2001 and grossed £222 million at the box office, more than ten times what it cost to make.
A film source told The Mail On Sunday in February: ‘Bridget is back and she’s about to take over London. Filming is already being planned and all pre-production is underway.
‘There was some uncertainty about whether it would take off, but the movie is coming.
‘Renee is excited to bring Bridget back. She loves the character very much. Bridget Jones fever is expected to sweep London this spring.
