Ashley, 29, who has already appeared on the cover of Vogue and played Indira, a sister of Ariel, in the 2023 live-action film adaptation of Disney’s The Little Mermaid, is said to be delighted to have teamed up with Smith in the studio.

She now seems keen to combine her early love of music with her successful acting career, once saying: “I started making music before doing anything else at the age of eight, but I never really got into it.”

Ashley has spoken of her desire to appear in the fourth season of Bridgerton, which will be based on the second novel in the series by Julia Quinn, The Viscount Who Loved Me. “I think we’ll do everything we can with our schedules to make it work the way we can, hopefully.”
