A self-made bride has left people furious after revealing her “cute” party gift hack – with many claiming it’s the worst gift they’ve ever seen.
The young woman decided to give her guests small glass bottles of salt as a thank you for attending her big day.
She shared a video of herself putting together the delicate favors, filling the small bottles with the bulk-bought salt before capping the top with a cork and adding small personalized stickers with the wedding date to the top.
But the simple and inexpensive idea failed to attract the majority and soon went viral with thousands of people sharing their honest and brutal opinion.
“Once again it’s been proven that wedding gifts are rubbish,” one woman criticised.
“I’d like to get something people can use, like olive oil, or maybe bottles of wine. It’s cheap,” said another.
“If you give me sea salt as a wedding favor, then I’ll give you pepper as a wedding gift,” another woman said.
“With all due respect, I would leave that issue on the table,” said another.

Another woman joked that it was more of a wedding “flavor” than a favor.
Many were confused about the practicality of the present having no idea what it would be used for, with another thinking it was “the cheapest thing they’d ever seen.”
“Is it to be given to salty guests because they are jealous? Or am I thinking too much?” asked one woman.
Others would have preferred the small jars to be filled with quality salt, such as Maldon salt from England, rather than bulk sea salt.
But some loved the idea and were confused by the negative comments.
“How cute! At the last wedding we attended, they gave us miniature jars of honey,” said one woman.
One woman gave similar gifts at her wedding, using pink Himalayan salt, and said everyone loved them.
Since the gifts were designed for a California beach wedding, others were more understanding, saying the sea salt definitely matched the whole beachy vibe.
One user defended the cute idea with a more philosophical explanation.
“This is very sweet. For a spiritual person, sea salt is the best. For those who don’t understand it, it symbolizes the preservation and endurance of the union, drives away all evil and blesses the marriage,” she said.
