Jamie Lee Komoroski, 26, confessed in a prison phone call to her sister Kelsi that she considers herself an 'alcoholic'

The “drunken driver” who killed a South Carolina bride minutes after her wedding was caught whining about being ‘a lonely alcoholic’ in a self-pitying phone call from jail.

In a call received by New York Post as of Dec. 11, just months before she was released on a $150,000 bond, Jamie Lee Komoroski, 26, spoke to her sister Kelsi and confessed her addiction.

“I consider myself an alcoholic because anything that makes me feel different or takes me away from what I’m supposed to feel, I used to try to do,” she said on the phone.

‘I just didn’t think life had any meaning. I was extremely lonely and had no life. I could never just sit down with my thoughts,’ she continued.

On April 28, 2023, Komoroski, three times over the border after a day of bar hopping, plowed into a golf cart with newlyweds Aric, 37, and Samantha Hutchinson, 34, from their beach wedding ceremony in Folly Beach, South Carolina.

The vehicle was thrown 100 meters and overturned several times. The couple were rushed to hospital, but Hutchinson succumbed to her injuries and died in her wedding dress.

Her husband was left with serious injuries and underwent two reconstructive surgeries, as well as suffering several broken bones and a brain injury.

In an interview with Good Morning America, Hutchinson’s widow, Aric, recalled their last moments together before the fatal crash.

“The last thing I remember her saying was that she wanted the night to never end,” he said.

The next thing he knew, he said he was at the hospital and asked where his wife was.

“That’s when (my mother) told me there was an incident and Sam didn’t make it,” he told the ABC.

However, the couple was not mentioned at all by Komoroski during her numerous phone calls.

Komoroski has been charged with one felony count of DUI resulting in death, two felony counts resulting in great bodily harm and one count of reckless homicide.

Aric filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Komoroski seeking unspecified damages from the driver and the bars that served her.

In his suit, filed in Charleston, he claimed Komoroski ‘bar hopped’ before getting behind the wheel.

He is also suing the five bars she is accused of frequenting, alleging they served Komoroski alcohol even though she was visibly drunk.

Komoroski’s blood alcohol level was 0.261 — more than three times the limit — and she was uncooperative with authorities when she was arrested.

She admitted she had two drinks an hour before the smash: a beer and a tequila-pineapple cocktail.

Komoroski was seen in exclusive photos obtained by DailyMail.com after his father Charles escorted his hooded daughter out of prison on March 1.

On March 4, he was seen removing packing cases from the luxury two-bedroom apartment where the $1,900-a-month Komoroski will be ‘imprisoned’ until his trial – a date yet to be set.

Under the strict conditions of her bond, Komoroski cannot leave her apartment except for “medical emergencies” or court-appointed dates.

She must wear a GPS and SCRAM ankle bracelet – a device that checks alcohol consumption every 30 minutes by monitoring sweat.

Her mother Traci, 60, father Charles, 60, and brother Charles, also 23, appeared relaxed and in good spirits as they carried new possessions into her new pillow.

While they were doing this, Komoroski was seen working out on his balcony, committed to getting back into pre-prison shape.

Video exclusively obtained by DailyMail.com showed her performing a variety of exercises including jumping jacks and goblet squats.

Komoroski failed to make bond last August when her lawyers offered a number of reasons why she was not a flight risk and suggested she be released to her mother’s custody in New Jersey and undergo rehabilitation for an alcohol problem.

The Charleston County judge at the time refused to include the stipulation that Komoroski would be released on $150,000 bond if she was still awaiting trial in March 2024, but that she would remain in Charleston County.

In another prison call, Komoroski was heard listing things she wanted to do when she was out, such as seeing the Northern Lights and visiting the Harry Potter exhibit.

As her family moved her belongings into her new home, Komoroski was seen working out on her balcony, committed to getting back into pre-prison shape.

‘We have to do that. You get wands…and pretend we’re wizards,’ she told her brother during a December 6 conversation.

Another audio recording, released by the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office, revealed that Komoroski is in the process of planning her own wedding … though she faces waiting until at least 2048 to tie the knot.

“I want you to be at my wedding,” Komoroski told her father during the call.

‘I want you to walk me down the aisle. I want you to be with me. I want to go for walks with you.’

It is understood Komoroski is still dating her boyfriend Evan Tatro and the two continue their relationship over the phone.

If convicted, Komoroski could face up to 25 years in prison for the bride’s death, as well as a fine of up to $25,100 and an additional 15 years and $10,100 for the serious injury caused by the men in the gold cart.

For the reckless killing, she could be sentenced to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to 5,000 dollars – as well as having her driver’s license revoked for five years after her release.
