New surveillance footage places the killer in the subway

New surveillance footage of the suspect shows him leaving a subway station near the shooting, as police continue to map his movements.

The killer was seen emerging from the 57th Street F train station at 6:15 a.m. Wednesday in a new image first shared by the Washington Post.

Detectives say the killer then walked to a Starbucks about 100 feet away and released footage showing the suspect ordering at a counter with his face hidden by a balaclava.

The suspect lay in wait outside the Hilton until 6:46 a.m. when he saw Thompson walking in front of the lobby.

NYPD detectives revealed late Wednesday that the killer who killed UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson left behind bullet casings that read “depose,” “deny” and “defend.”

The cryptic words are similar to the title of author Jay M. Feinman’s 2010 book “Delay, Deny, Defend,” which describes “why insurance companies don’t pay claims and what you can do about it.”

With the search for the killer underway, the message leaves it to the police to determine if they can come up with a motive for the CEO’s murder.
