The search for Brian Thompson has entered its third day as the NYPD continues to hunt a mystery man who executed the CEO of UnitedHealthCare in midtown Manhattan.
Thompson, 50, was shot in the early hours of Wednesday as he headed to an investor conference at the Hilton in New York. His unknown killer remains on the run, but police have released a photo of him smiling and searched a Manhattan hostel where he is believed to have stayed.
Police officers investigating the murder of Brian Thompson will look into the inner circle of the UnitedHealthcare CEO in Minnesota as they hunt for his killer, according to retired FBI agent Scott Duffey.
“Start with the inner circle,” Duffey said Fox News.
‘This is a whodunit murder on a public block in one of the largest cities in the world… (but) assuming it’s a target, you don’t have to worry about all your regular thieves, robbers on street who want to take advantage of someone…
‘If you look at a particular individual, start small, with family – what is the family situation?’
At the time of the murder, Thompson, 50, and his estranged wife Paulette lived in separate homes less than a mile apart in suburban Maple Grove, Minnesota.
His wife Paulette, a practicing physiotherapist, revealed that her husband had previously received threats. She referred to a “lack of coverage.”
