- Jaidyn Gomes-Sebastiao died in 2019
- Brendan Pallant will spend at least 25 years behind bars
Child killer Brendan Pallant has been sentenced to 32 years in prison after being found guilty of murdering a two-year-old boy.
Pallant, 37, appeared in the Victorian Supreme Court on Monday after being found guilty of murdering two-year-old Jaidyn Gomes-Sebastiao.
In sentencing, Judge Jane Dixon set a non-parole period of 25 years.
Jaidyn was attacked in his bedroom at his family home in Melbourne’s south-east in September 2019.
At last year’s trial, the jury found that Pallant injured the boy in what prosecutors described as a “short but profound period of stress and frustration” while the boy’s mother, Stacie Saggers, was at work.
Mrs Saggers and Pallant had a relationship.

In court on Monday, Judge Dixon accepted that Pallant was distraught on the day Jaidyn died, due to pending court matters.
During sentencing, Pallant leaned against a wall as Judge Dixon spoke, his eyes closed for much of the hearing, which lasted more than an hour.
Outside court, Ms Saggers said her family was pleased with the sentence.
“Excellent. Thirty-two years. Justice has finally been served for Jaidyn,” he said.
‘I’m absolutely ecstatic, my family and I.’
More to come
