A bartender has vowed to never drive drunk again after hitting a traffic light while twice the alcohol limit.
Bree Maddison Brown, 22, lost control of her silver Mazda and hit the fire at Currumbin Waters, Gold Coast, on October 11 – leaving it “damaged beyond repair”, the Coolangatta Magistrates Court heard.
Brown, from Brisbane, was uninjured in the crash, which occurred at 6:25 p.m., the police said. Gold Coast Bulletin reported.

She recorded a blood alcohol level of 0.117, more than double the limit of 0.05.
Brown pleaded guilty Monday to one count of driving while above the average alcohol limit.
She told the court the accident was “a big wake-up call for me”.
Magistrate Kerry Magee said Brown was “very lucky” not to have injured anyone in the crash.
Brown was fined $650 and had her driver’s license suspended for four months. No conviction has been recorded.
