Famous model, restaurant owner and lifestyle guru Barbara “B.” Smith died at the age of 70 after a seven-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

B. died “peacefully” in hospice care at her home on Long Island, New York, on Saturday night, her 28-year-old husband announced Dan Gasby in a Facebook post.

“It is with great sadness that my daughter Dana and I announce the death of my wife, Barbara Elaine Smith,” wrote Gasby.

‘Thanks to all the friends and fans who have supported B. and our family during her trip. Thank you to everyone for respecting our privacy during this painful time.

“The sky shines even brighter now that it has been blessed with B.’s dazzling and unforgettable smile.”

In 1976, she became the first black woman to adorn the cover of the Mademoiselle magazine.

She then opened three restaurants of the same name in New York City, Long Island and Washington, DC.

B. cultivated her lifestyle and media brand after landing her own talk show, “B. Smith with Style ‘, broadcast in 1997 on NBC stations throughout the country.

She was diagnosed with early Alzheimer’s disease in 2013 at the age of 63.

Her marriage to Gasby made headlines at the end of 2018 after revealing that he had a live-in girlfriend who helped take care of his sick wife.
