A woman has been arrested in Brazil on suspicion of murdering her husband before cutting off his penis and cooking it.
Dayane Cristina Rodrigues Machado, 33, was arrested on June 7 by police in the Brazilian city of Sao Goncalo — across Guanabara Bay from Rio de Janeiro —.
Officers were called to the couple’s home near Santa Catarina and found the victim’s lifeless, naked and mutilated body.
He was identified only by his first name, Andre.
According to officers, his wife had cut off his penis and cooked it in soybean oil in a frying pan.
They think the crime happened around 4 a.m. after the couple argued about breaking up, according to reports.
Police seized a kitchen knife at the scene believed to be the one she used to kill her husband and then chopped him into pieces.
Machado, who was arrested, has been charged with murder and desecration of corpses.
According to reports, the couple had been together for 10 years and separated for two years, but they continued to see each other occasionally.
They have an eight-year-old son and a five-year-old daughter, and they run a pizzeria together. It is not clear whether the children were present at the time of the crime.

According to news site UOL, the couple went to a snack bar on the night of the crime and an argument ensued.
Machado’s lawyer, Carla Policarpo, has said Andre threatened her and killed him in self-defense.
However, Andre’s sister, Adriana Santos, says that the suspect killed her brother in revenge for cheating on her.
Relatives have revealed that the couple argued constantly, and Machado had even once reported her husband to the police.

According to her lawyer, “He didn’t accept the end of the relationship and said if she couldn’t be with him, she couldn’t be with anyone.”
The lawyer, Policarpo, says her client is sorry, while local news reports say she has turned herself in to police.
Some sources have listed the suspect’s name as Dayana rather than Dayane, and it has not been reported whether she will undergo a mental health test.
The investigation is ongoing.
