Brazilian legend Ronaldo has revealed his list of the greatest footballers in history – and Cristiano Ronaldo is not among them.
The Manchester United star has gone through a turbulent period of late after he refused to play for the Red Devils against Spurs and was subsequently sent off to train with the Under 21 roster.
And things aren’t getting any better for the Portuguese forward after his namesake – Ronaldo Nazario – banned him from his list of football greats.
Man United’s Cristiano Ronaldo has been removed from the Brazilian icon’s list of football greats
The former Real Madrid striker gave his list of the biggest football stars in a recent interview
Speak with the guard, the Brazilian icon was asked who was bigger than Lionel Messi and Diego Maradona, to which he replied: “That’s unfair. I think there’s a very, very special group where you see Diego, Messi, [Johan] cruyff, [Franz] Beckenbauer, Pele, [Marco] van Basten, Ronaldinho.’
“I would involve myself. Let the fans say it, let them debate it in the bars. But you can’t rank them, you can’t compare generations.’
There was no place for Man United’s Ronaldo on the list, but the Brazilian star referred to him shortly after.
“People call me Original Ronaldo, but damn it, there were others – and they weren’t fake. I’m not alone and there will be others who are better at everything than I am,” he said.
Ronaldo Nazario, 46, has scored 352 goals in 518 games in his impressive career that spanned nearly twenty years before retiring in 2011.
He was asked who was bigger from the Argentine duo Lionel Messi (L) and Diego Maradona
The Brazilian also mentioned his former international teammate Ronaldinho for Ronaldo
The former Real Madrid and Inter Milan striker also spoke about PSG star Neymar, stressing that his compatriot’s personal life has influenced his perception on the pitch.
Ronaldo said: ‘People love him a lot. If we’re talking about football specifically, I doubt there’s anyone who doesn’t love him.
“His private life transcends football, but I’m not interested. He is daring, has skill, variety, is quick, scores goals, has personality.
“You could compare him to Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, even though they are from another planet. On the field, Neymar is one [thing]then people mix with everything else.’
The former Brazilian striker insisted he pays no attention to Neymar .’s personal life
It is the last goal the Portuguese Ronaldo has received given his difficult week at Manchester United.
Erik ten Hag will have clear conversations with Ronaldo today in hopes of drawing a line under his fallout with the Manchester United star.
The 37-year-old was banned from first-team training and was kicked out of the squad for refusing to come on as a substitute in last week’s win over Tottenham and when he left Old Trafford before he was full-time.
Ten Hag wants to speak to Ronaldo to make sure he has realized his mistakes before reintegrating the 37-year-old.
Ronaldo was left out of Man United’s trip to Chelsea due to recent behavioral issues
