His friend – who has not been named – told police officers that Norte had called him to come to his house to drink alcohol and listen to music.

The man, who is also 20, agreed, and when he arrived at the house, he said that Norte already had the .38 caliber revolver in his hand.

He added that they both played Russian roulette and took turns firing the gun with one bullet in the room.

He said he received the gun twice from Norte before the student pulled the trigger again and shot himself in the head.

The friend, who had known Norte for over six years, added that they’d played the game at least four times in the past.

Police said it is not yet known who owned the weapon.

They added that the victim died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and it is unclear whether they are investigating the incident further.

Despite the deadly consequences of playing the game, Russian roulette has left a string of victims – many of whom are teenagers – in its wake.

In 2015, Brazilian teen Ana Julia Lima Clemente died after shooting herself with her uncle’s gun during a game of Russian roulette.

Clemente, 15, pulled out the .38 revolver and started fooling around with a 14-year-old friend at her home in Criciuma in the southern state of Santa Catarina.

She held the gun to her own head and pulled the trigger twice, but nothing happened. But the third time she did it, she died instantly.

A year later, Austin Barcarcel, a teenager from Virginia, USA, fatally shot himself while playing a Russian roulette-style game with a loaded gun at his 18th birthday party.
