Brave woman, 24, set on fire, raped and tortured says’ strangers’ look at her like she’s a monster ‘
A woman who was raped daily, set on fire and tortured by a malicious banker during a gruesome three-week ordeal, fears she will never have a friend, a lover or a job again because of her mental and physical scars.
Nicholas John Crilley, 34, subjected the then 21-year-old to ‘physical, psychological and sadistic violence’ at his mansion in Bulimba, Brisbane in June 2017 for 23 days.
The attacks of the former Commonwealth Bank employee left his victim so badly injured that paramedics initially thought she was dead.
But almost three years later and with her attacker behind bars awaiting conviction, the woman’s nightmare is far from over.
She told the Brisbane court on Tuesday about the unimaginable horror she endured, saying that strangers are now looking at her as if she were a “monster” because of her deformity.
She said her facial scars made her feel “unworthy of human interactions.”

The woman was placed in a coma and spent eight weeks at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital to recover.
She said it took her seven weeks to build up the courage to look at her face in the mirror for fear of what she would see.
“When I finally did it, I was so distraught. I was not at all like myself. I was unrecognizable. My whole body didn’t feel like mine, ”she told the court Courier post reported.
She said that “part of my dream as a little girl found someone to love and get married,” but Crilley “took away” that dream.
Her muscles sprang so much that she had to learn to walk again and her little finger was amputated.
The woman, now 24, has also undergone painful treatment for burns on nearly half of her body for weeks.
“The injuries I have suffered are horrific, highly visible and irreversible and will, and will forever, have consequences for me,” she told the court, Nine news reported.
“My face will never look the same … I will always have a physical memory every time I look in the mirror.
“I feel numb that no one ever wants to be my friend, lover or hire me again.”
The victim, who was 21 at the time, was barely found alive on July 2, 2017, at the home of Nicholas John Crilley (pictured), so severely injured police who thought she was involved in an explosion
The woman’s teeth are broken by endless blows by Crilley.
She now has to wear a wig after losing bits of hair because of a severely burned scalp.
The bridge of her nose had to be removed because it had broken into pieces and her eyesight was reduced because burning liquids were poured into her eyes.
Surgery may be required to place a metal plate in her head to keep her eyes from slipping further back.
She has large divots in her skull where skin tissue turned black and died, and later became infected with maggots.
The woman also finds it difficult to exercise and even take a shower because her body has trouble regulating the temperature.
But she said the worst wounds are on her psyche.
She described herself before the ordeal as a “ very smiley and bubbly personality, ” but Crilley’s abuse has left her weak and vulnerable.
Crilley pleaded guilty to 54 crimes, including serious bodily harm, detention and torture.
Crilley repeatedly called her an ‘s ** t’ and forced her to confess to sleep with other men while he was in prison
Prosecutor Sandra Cupina told the court that Crilley raped the woman daily, set her on fire and poured burning water on her genitals.
He used a lighter, acetone and boiling water to burn her body.
The victim was also forced to eat her own vomit and feces and had to sleep on the floor or outside.
Crilley also had the woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, choose how she wanted to die – be shot or in a car accident.
“I hit her so hard … she can’t speak anymore,” Crilley bragged to a friend.
The 34-year-old then ‘hid’ her at the nearby Tower Mill Metro Hotel for five days.
The blows became so severe that the woman’s upper lip lifted from her face.
“He increased and escalated the methods he used to harm her, boiling water and then acetone, after which she set her on fire,” said Ms. Cupina.

She suffered from multiple broken bones, deep cuts to her face, including “skin breakdown,” and burns up to 46 percent of her body.
“The tissue on part of her face was so badly infected that it was infected with maggots,” said Ms. Cupina.
“If she hadn’t been hospitalized, she would have died.”
Three weeks after the humiliating torture, Crilley eventually called triple-zero before fleeing the Brisbane home, where most of the offenses occurred.
His victim was barely found alive in his home on July 2, 2017, so severely injured police who thought she was involved in an explosion.
Police thought she was dead until she groaned.
Eight days later, Crilley was taken into custody after a dramatic police chase involving several stolen cars.
Attorney-at-law Malcolm Harrison said that during the long-term attack, Crilley was in a delusion induced by methylamphetamine.
He said that Crilley thought the woman had been part of a drive-by shooting aimed at him, but it was not based on reality.
“This is a terrible and extremely serious example of violence against a woman,” he said.
“The offenses were sadistic in nature.”
However, Mr. Harrison recalled that the court had called Crilley triple-zero.
“That is probably the only factor in his favor,” he said.
Crilley will be sentenced on May 1. The Crown has requested that he be sentenced to life imprisonment.
