Former Western Force rugby star Brynard Stander has revealed why he chased down two teenagers who allegedly stabbed and robbed two men.

The teenagers have since been charged over the alleged stabbing attack in Karrinyup, Western Australia, which left the alleged victims with serious injuries.

Mirrabooka detectives have charged the youths, aged 16, with one count of aggravated armed robbery each, as well as two counts of grievous bodily harm.

The alleged incident took place around 2.30pm on Sunday and Stander, who was nearby at the time, explained what motivated him to pursue the alleged criminals.

In a statement on Monday, police said they will allege the pair were armed with knives when they went to Northgate Street in Karrinyup to meet two 18-year-old men in a vehicle as part of a pre-arranged meeting.

‘It will be alleged that the two offenders threatened the two male victims.

‘During the altercation, one of the 18-year-old victims suffered a stab wound to the abdomen and the other 18-year-old victim suffered cuts to her left wrist and thigh.

‘Both (alleged) victims were taken to Royal Perth Hospital with critical injuries.

“One of the (alleged) offenders allegedly grabbed a bag containing cannabis from the victim’s vehicle before both offenders fled down an alley between Northgate Street and Edmondson Crescent.”

The police added that they will allege that information received from the public helped them arrest the alleged criminals.

The teenagers are due to appear at Perth Youth Court on Monday.
