Brandt is apparently hesitant about the BVB offer

Borussia Dortmund is obviously working hard to extend Julian Brandt’s contract, which ends in 2024. However, the BVB playmaker should still hesitate – and there should be a sticking point in the negotiations.

33 competitive games, nine goals, five assists, one of the players in the best form in the Bundesliga for weeks: Julian Brandt recently collected a lot of arguments for a future at Borussia Dortmund beyond his contract end in 2024.

The midfielder suffered a torn muscle fiber at the beginning of March and after a break of several weeks in the top game at FC Bayern (2: 4) he was not in the best shape again. Nevertheless, it should be clear to BVB that they want to build on Brandt in the years to come.

As “Sky” reporter Sven Westerschulze reported via Twitter, both parties are already in advanced talks about a contract extension. The financial details should be largely clarified.

There are therefore still different positions in terms of the term of the new working paper. BVB is apparently imagining a long-term agreement. Brandt is said to still hesitate to agree to this.

BVB: Premier League interest in Julian Brandt?

One thing is clear: his achievements in the past few months should have put him on the shopping lists of numerous clubs.

Brandt was repeatedly associated with Arsenal FC, for example – after all, they are the current leaders in the English Premier League. There are said to be admirers of the 26-year-old in the Italian Serie A as well.

Brandt switched from Bayer Leverkusen to BVB in 2019 for a whopping 25 million euros, but had long failed to draw attention to himself with consistently good performances.

Then the performance explosion followed – and possibly soon the extension when all hurdles are cleared out of the way.
