Joey King suffered a minor wardrobe malfunction while on his way to accept the Face of the Future Award at the 2024 WIF Honors Ceremony on Thursday.
While heading on stage at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, the 25-year-old actress’s jacket burst open, leaving her struggling to keep it closed.
The Golden Globe nominee made a surprised expression and held onto her jacket, until an usher helped her secure the garment with safety pins to prevent it from being exposed.
‘Wow. The perfect moment for my shirt to open. And I’m not wearing a bra!’ the star reflected.
He proceeded to give an emotional acceptance speech, in which he thanked his mother Jamie, his grandmother Elaine, and his sisters Kelli and Hunter.

‘I feel very flattered. What a night! I am overwhelmed in the best way possible. “First of all, I just want to thank Max Mara and Women in Film for this incredible privilege of being named the Face of the Future of Max Mara,” he began.
King continued: ‘I have worked constantly from a very young age. Being successful is the only thing I wanted to do with my life, but sometimes I never felt like it was enough. It was because I was focused on wanting to be included in the things I wasn’t included in. It didn’t matter that he had so much to be grateful for. I often reflected on what wasn’t happening rather than what was happening. Maybe it’s some kind of littlest child syndrome.
‘I don’t know, I just want to play with my sisters and their older friends. Or maybe it was because we’re in an industry where we’re constantly made to feel like we have to compare ourselves to others who are doing great. Something inside me changed around age 19 or 20. “I felt a lot more at peace,” King added.
After she turned 20, she said she began to feel “less and less” like she needed “an invitation or an email to feel worthy and more focused on the beauty and wholeness that” she already has.
King also talked about how self-acceptance has made her “a better actress, a better daughter, a better sister, a better wife and a better friend.”
She concluded her speech by saying that the women in her life “are the only reason she is here today.”
“I couldn’t be named the Max Mara Face of the Future Woman in Film without her leadership,” she said of her loved ones. ‘I am deeply grateful for this honor and for this fight, and for everything this organization does to make women feel as powerful as they are. Because we are very powerful. Thank you so much. This is amazing.’
The next day, King proved she was unfazed by her wardrobe malfunction when she posted images of the moment on her Instagram.

In addition to his successful career, King’s personal life is also thriving.
She recently celebrated one year of marriage with her husband, Steven Piet, 40.
The couple married in September 2023 in Mallorca, Spain, after meeting on the set of The Act in 2019, when King was 20 years old.
Joey previously spoke about getting married at 24.

‘And my family and everyone in my life adores Steven. He is the easiest person to love. “They were very excited,” the We Were the Lucky Ones star said.
Joey also said that the hard thing about deciding to get married is that everyone has an opinion about it.
“There’s never the right way to do it without someone commenting on it,” he said.

‘It’s: “You’re too young, you’re too old, how long have you been dating?” or “You don’t know each other very well. You’ve been together too long. Where’s the ring?” he said.
He continued: ‘My grandmother got married at 18 and she was very normal back then. If someone got married at 24 when my grandmother was 18, she would say, “What’s taking so long?” So everything is relative and everyone is different.”
