The Los Angeles Police Department has canceled an Amber Alert after finding the boy who was kidnapped by his "suicidal" father on Thursday.
Jaden José, 18 months old, was found in Chula Vista on Friday morning and returned to his mother, after police said his father, John Jose, called them and told them he was in San Diego.
"John took Jaden without the biological mother's consent and threatened to get Jaden out of the state," police told the San Diego Union-Tribune in a statement.

He was taken by his suicidal father, John Joseph, at 3:30 p.m. from Arleta, California, "LAPD headquarters tweeted early Friday.
The father threatened to leave California with the child, and take his life, the police told KTLA.
The father then took the child without the mother's consent, police said.
Jaden was abducted in the 9500 block of Laurel Canyon Boulevard in Pacoima, between Branford and Montague Streets, just two blocks from Interstate 5.
Police said the father called them right before they issued Amber Alert late on Thursday, telling them he was in San Diego, but did not specify his location.
First they took the police to a home in the 3000 block of Bonita Mesa Road in Bonita, but the father and son were not there.
The two finally settled in the Chula Vista area, south of San Diego, on Friday night.
The boy was taken to the Polinsky Children's Center in San Diego and met with his mother on Friday, NBC reported.
It is not clear if the father will face charges related to the kidnapping.
Police said the father called them after they issued the Amber Alert on Thursday night, telling them he was in San Diego and taking them to a home, but that the father and son were not there.
