Actress Trina McGee has played down claims that her pregnancy is a publicity stunt.

Actress Trina McGee has revealed how she overhauled her entire body for years in a bid to improve her fertility before falling pregnant aged 54 – and plans to further expand her brood through adoption.

The former Boy Meets World star surprised her fans earlier this month when she announced she was expecting her fourth child, her first with husband Marcello Thedford, after conceiving naturally despite being a year into menopause.

Speaking exclusively to DailyMail.com, Trina shared her belief that adopting a healthy lifestyle, which included drinking a pineapple elixir, produced her “miracle” baby, as she claims it helped improve blood flow to her uterus.

She also dismissed damaging speculation that the news about her baby is a publicity stunt to attract media attention.

“I did things to cleanse my body and I’ve always been very healthy,” Trina said.

‘Over the last eight years, we’ve focused more on cleaning up our systems and saying, “Hey, if this is something possible, would you still want it?”

“We came here to Belize and lived an even cleaner life, and we got help from (Marcello’s) family with some herbal remedies, and that worked.”

Trina, who played Angela Moore on the hit series Boy Meets World between 1997 and 2000, insisted she is not aiming to be “any kind of guru” or medical doctor, but simply wants to share her own experience.

“I boiled a lot of pineapple peel and cinnamon, and I drank it constantly,” he said. ‘I’d say I did that for about eight months straight.

‘It’s not crazy or mystical or anything like that, but you have to keep blood flowing to the uterus and some things help more than others.

“Find out even for yourself what roots or herbs might work for you and get your blood flowing and consult with a doctor.”

He continued: “I have been working with roots and herbs for a long time and have been drinking teas and tonics… I have kept my blood and body clean for over 20 years.”

Pineapple and cinnamon have many health benefits and both contain anti-inflammatory properties, while cinnamon has been linked to lowering blood pressure and regulating blood glucose.

Trina told DailyMail.com that she and Marc (pictured in 2015) have included roots and herbs in their diets “for a long time” to help “cleanse” their bodies.

She stated that because she began taking the medicinal herbs recommended to her in Belize and maintained her healthy lifestyle, she was able to get pregnant.

Trina, who also avoids white flour, white rice, sugar and processed foods, currently lives with her husband in Belize and credits the country for improving her quality of life.

“When I got here, I eliminated a lot of stress,” he said. ‘And I prayed a lot, that’s something personal.

‘Relieving stress and really identifying what was stressing me out was extremely important. I stopped taking so many things in my daily life that I felt I needed to take them to get ahead.’

Trina, who has been married to Marcello for 16 years, also revealed that her health has improved throughout their relationship.

‘Since I’ve been with my husband, he hasn’t been in hospital for over 12 years for his DVTs (deep vein thrombosis) and blood clots, and he used to be in hospital all the time.

‘He is still working to lose weight and continue working towards his optimal health. But I think there are things you can do if you start looking at nature.’

Trina already has children Ramia, 31, Langston, 29, and Ezra, 25, with ex-husband Courtland Davis, and despite falling pregnant with her fourth in her 50s, she has no plans to stop there.

“We want to have a big family, so yes, the idea of adoption along with pregnancy is a great idea that we are exploring now,” she said.

“We were hoping to have maybe two or three kids by the end of the day if that could work out, but we’ll be grateful for whatever we’re allowed to have.” We only want healthy children.’

Trina announced the news of her pregnancy on Instagram earlier this month, telling her fans: ‘At the tender age of 54 I found myself pregnant.

‘Please bless us with your prayers for a safe delivery. Thank you.’

The news sparked a huge reaction online, with some, including her former Boy Meets World co-star Maitland Ward, questioning whether the ad was a publicity stunt.

Speaking to TMZ, the actress, who played Rachel McGuire on the show, said: “My first thought, and I hate to say it, was April Fools’ Day.” I hope it’s not a publicity stunt or anything, I hope not.

“I haven’t seen any verification or information… I hope that as she goes forward she shows us her journey, because that is a very important thing that would help a lot of women, it would be super inspiring.”

Trina told DailyMail.com that she was hurt by Maitland’s speculation.

“Let’s just say she knows me better than that,” he said.

‘I felt bad that she said that, and… whatever, you know, I’m just living my life. And you know, this is my experience. And that is. Actually.’

While Trina is at an age where menopause typically begins, she is preparing to welcome her new bundle of joy.

Menopause is when a woman’s periods stop due to a drop in hormone levels, which usually occurs around age 45 to 55, although it can occur when you are younger.

There are many symptoms, but the most common ones include anxiety, mood swings, brain fog, hot flashes, and irregular periods.

They can start years before a woman’s periods end and continue years afterward, having a huge impact on the lives of those who suffer from them.

In addition to growing their family, Trina and Marc are launching Quawe Farms and Retreat in Belize, as well as an online store on the 4th of July.
