A mother has appeared in court accused of killing her two young children and sexually abusing the family dog.
Lisa Snyder is accused of hanging up her son Conner (eight) and her four-year-old daughter Brinley in their home in Reading, Pennsylvania.
The 37-year-old allegedly told the authorities that the children had threatened suicide.
Investigators said she told the police that Conner was being bullied at school and wanted to commit suicide but not just want to go, so he also killed his sister with the help of a dog leash.
But officers said they found no evidence to support that claim, and a witness told Berks County Courthouse Wednesday that Conner “was unable to do this,” The Morning Call reported.
Lisa Snyder has been charged with the murders of her son Conner and her daughter Brinley in their parental home in Reading, Pennsylvania
Lisa Snyder was arrested in her house on Monday morning for the death of 8-year-old Conner Snyder and his 4-year-old sister Brinley
Court reports also show that Snyder Googled “carbon monoxide in a car how long dies”, “hang yourself” and “I almost got away with my best episodes [sic]’in the weeks before the children died last September.
Both children were hanged by first responders after Snyder called 911.
The children are said to have been hung on opposite ends of the same plastic-covered dog leash.
Assistant prosecutor Margaret McCallum told the judge that the boy did not have the ability to fasten the dog leash in two snares.
She said: “Conner was unable to do this to herself. He was unable to do this to his sister. ”
Conner and Brinley died in the hospital when doctors pulled them out of their living, three days after they were discovered at home.
In December, a coroner said that both children died hanging and ruled their death murders.
Snyder was arrested in December after a coroner had ruled that the death of her two children was murdered. The couple died three months earlier in the hospital
Snyder’s eight-year-old son, Conner (left), and four-year-old daughter Brinley (right) were hung on a dog leash in the basement at the end of September
Snyder was subsequently arrested and charged with two counts of murder in the first and third degree.
According to a friend who testified in court, the mother intended to take her own life after her arrest if she was released on bail.
District judge Kim Bagenstose ordered Snyder to stand trial and to be charged with alleged murders.
She is accused of third-degree murder, tampering with evidence, endangering children’s well-being, animal abuse, and intercourse with a dog.
The charges against dogs stem from sexually explicit photographs of Snyder with the family pet that have come to light during the lengthy police investigation and are not related to the charges for murder.
