Police launched a murder investigation after a 17-year-old boy who was stabbed in the chest at a house party died in hospital two days later.
The 17-year-old was seriously injured in an attack in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Tragically, he died yesterday after two days in the hospital.
A 16-year-old boy was charged with attempted murder and appeared before York Magistrates’ Court, where he was remanded to appear again on March 14.
Detective Superintendent Wayne Fox of North Yorkshire Police confirmed the death of the victim yesterday afternoon.
The 17-year-old was stabbed in the chest at a house party on Claro Road (pictured) in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, in the early hours of Sunday morning.
He added: ‘I can now confirm that the investigation has been declared a murder investigation. North Yorkshire Police will, at this time, take no action to name the victim, however our thoughts are with her family and friends.
A large investigative team has been formed to advance the investigation, this includes specialist officers who will offer support to the victim’s family.
“I am aware that important information is being shared on various social media platforms, I would ask the public to respect the privacy of the affected family members and refrain from speculating on the victim’s personal information at this difficult time.”
