& # 39; As you know, we've had two previous cases since I got the D.A. where someone had a medical episode.

& # 39; And we are going to investigate whether that was indeed the case and whether the person should be behind the wheel. & # 39;

The vehicle had two speed violations this year in August and June, a total of four since 2017, according to city records found by the news.

Gonzalez said that his & # 39; heart goes out to the family & # 39; and that he was also worried about the damaged scaffolding and wanted to make sure it couldn't hurt anyone else.

New York City Council member Chaim Deutsch revealed the boy's name on Twitter and claimed to have spoken with his family for hours after the accident.

He posted that the boy's father told him: & # 39; All they gave us was a tissue to wipe our tears. & # 39;

In another tweet, Deutsch confirmed death online: & # 39; Tragically, the child was declared dead after being brought to the hospital in critical condition.

& # 39; It should not be necessary for a councilman to turn up at home to get answers for a grieving family, & # 39; Deutsch added.

Ambulances and fire engines were seen at the site of the accident on Tuesday, the wreck of the vehicle was still between metal posts.

Construction worker Mohammed Hamoud, 31, who was on the eighth floor when the incident happened, said he had a & # 39; boom & # 39; heard at the time of the incident.

He said that initially he could not see what was happening because scaffolding obstructed his view.

Hamoud told me CBS News said: & # 39; We saw that one boy … on the floor. Lots of blood there. Lots of blood for his nose and mouth.

& # 39; You send your children to school, they are not coming back, it is very, very sad. & # 39;

Another passerby, Naida Sari, said she & # 39; a very bad sound & # 39; heard and then ran to her door where another woman outside confirmed that a boy had died.
