A teenager was stabbed in a busy shopping center and rushed to hospital in a terrifying incident which unfolded in front of onlookers.
Emergency services were called to Westfield Parramatta around 4pm on Thursday following reports of a knife attack.
Police said a 17-year-old boy suffered cuts to his arms and back.
The injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Police believe the incident occurred during an argument between a group of “young people.”
The attack is suspected to have been targeted and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
The teen was treated by paramedics at the scene and later taken to hospital in stable condition.
“Initial investigations indicate that the incident occurred following an argument between several youths and they believe the attack was targeted,” the police spokesperson said.
“There is no ongoing concern for public safety.”
Police have set up a crime scene, will investigate and are asking anyone with information to come forward.
