Football fans have marveled at Jadon Sancho’s performance in the Champions League against PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday night, in which the on-loan Manchester United striker scored the first goal.

Dortmund advanced to the quarter-finals of the Champions League after beating their Dutch rivals 3-1 on aggregate, and Sancho played a key role in the German team’s success.

The 23-year-old returned to his former employer in January on loan from United for the rest of the season after a falling out with manager Erik ten Hag.

The Bundesliga giants previously approved Sancho’s move to Old Trafford in a £73million transfer three years ago but now want to seal his permanent return.

Sancho’s current contract in Manchester expires in 2026 and the winger is eager to leave the club after the worst spell of his career which also coincided with his departure from the England set-up.

A goal in Dortmund’s 2-1 win over Werder Bremen at the weekend marked his first goal since returning to his former club and was followed by another goal in the Champions League knockout clash.

PSV’s run in the competition has come to an end largely due to Sancho’s impressive performance, which has fans insisting he is back to his best.

“This is the Jadon Sancho we all know,” said one excited supporter on X after his first goal.

Another similar comment read: ‘Jadon Sancho doing his thing on a UCL night? Oh, but they told me…’

Dortmund want to bring the winger back with a permanent transfer in the summer but are concerned about the price United are likely to quote him.

In response to his chase, another supporter posted online after Wednesday’s game: “That will be an extra £10m on top of Sancho’s price.”

Another fan applauded the English star’s return to Dortmund and rejoiced: “Jadon Sancho is still the same player as always and this is his family.”

Sancho received a standing ovation from the home fans at Signal Iduna Park after being substituted in the 75th minute.

The former Manchester City academy graduate provided a creative flair and spark that wreaked havoc on PSV’s defense throughout the match and was rewarded with the Champions League man of the match title for his performance.
