Boris Johnson says Israel has a ‘duty’ to eliminate Hamas in latest Mail column – but warns terrorists WANT an ‘endless cycle of revenge and retaliation’
- Boris Johnson’s latest column on Israel will be on MailOnline this afternoon
Boris Johnson outlines Israel’s ‘duty’ to eliminate Hamas threat in his new Mail column.
The former prime minister fully supports the country’s right to respond to the horrific terrorist attacks, which saw civilians beheaded and hostages taken.
But he also warns of the need to maintain the “extraordinary” reconciliation process rumored to be taking place behind the scenes with states like Saudi Arabia.
Mr Johnson also urges Israel to keep in mind that Hamas wants to provoke an “endless cycle of revenge and violence”.

Israel has warned civilians to leave Gaza as it prepares a military campaign – despite UN concerns that it is not possible to evacuate everyone in time.
In a video launching his column – which will be in the Daily Mail tomorrow and on MailOnline this evening – Mr Johnson said: “After last week’s barbaric attacks, Israel has the right – a duty – to eliminate all those responsible of Hamas and to ensure that nothing like this can happen again.
“The question is how Israel can achieve this while protecting the extraordinary reconciliation process underway between Israel and some Arab states.”
“And how can Israel achieve this without setting up an endless cycle of revenge and retaliation, which is exactly what Hamas wants.”
